Charles “Chip” Bernhardt is a battle tested financial “Swiss Army Knife” with over 30 years of diverse fiscal experience in multiple industries, including Life Sciences and Healthcare. An experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), Treasurer and Controller. He most recently served as CFO for two publicly traded life sciences organizations as well as a Private Equity (PE) held portfolio healthcare company that successful undertook a sale between fund investor groups.

While he is currently undertaking consulting roles as he seeks his next CFO role on an interim or long-term basis, Mr. Bernhardt most recently served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of PE owned Senior Care Centers of America and Active Day, the premier provider of adult day health services, in-home personal care and non-emergency transportation with over 80 nationwide locations with approximately 1,800 employees.

He previously served as Interim Chief Financial Officer of a NASDAQ trading medical device company in Echo Therapeutics, Inc. Prior to that, for five years he was the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer for NYSE trading Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. He was formerly the Director of Accounting for the Healthcare Division of information giant, Thomson Reuters, where he was responsible for their accounting operations and shared financial services for both Healthcare and Scientific Divisions. He has also served as a Regional Controller for Comcast Cable / Lenfest Communications’ Suburban Cable as well as Director of Finance for television advertiser TelAmerica Media.

Earlier in his career was a member of the Internal Audit management teams for American Stores Corporation (Acme Markets Division) and traveled North America for Fortune 50’s chemical / pharmaceutical company ICI Americas / Zeneca (currently AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals).

Chip became a C.P.A. licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey while with public accounting’s “Big Four” firm of KPMG. He attained an undergraduate in Accountancy from Villanova University and received a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
